Catholic Wisdom
"His death was the price of one dance."
--Inscription chosen by the Curé of Ars for the Chapel of Saint John the Baptist he installed in his parish church.
As best I can tell from my study of the sources and the times, what the great Patron of Priests has in mind is a style of dancing that is alluring and lascivious, just like the dance Salome performed for the lusty Harod. If we are to benefit from this Saint's wisdom, let us apply it to the activities that in our time would be the same kind of danger to the soul: movies, music, etc., whenever they contain such occasions (inducements) to sin.
How serious are any of these occasions? The Curé reminds us: just ONE cost a man his life. The same number costs a man his soul.
